17.LEDY OF "SKRPJEL"
The Mother of God's cult is present in Perast. The legend about an icon found on a rock in the middle of 15th. century is an initiation for building the first chapel on that place. It gradually became Perast's competition to Kotor's abbey St. George.
The rock has been heaped up temporarlly. Bared, artificial isle without trees. The place of sailors' vows inscribed on a silver plates.
Hexagonal dome is set up on a square chapel. The work of the master Ilija Katichich from Dubrovnik (1724). Painted by Tripo Kokolja.
The church tower (1627) is 16 meters high. Only one with a circular base at the Seaside. Byzantine capitals and octogon dome. Venetian influence.
Every year a procession of boats from Perast proceads toward the Lady. "Fashinada".
They carry the stones with reverance.
