39.TOWERS AND GARDENS
Two functionalities of baroque Perast.
The towers are a part of town's fortification system. They were planned to with stand among civillian buildings. «Chardacs» as points compesated the lack of the wall around the town.
There were nine of them at the time of Perast's battle.
The tenth, the newest one, the Mazarevich 's tower was built in 1656. It can be seen east from the Piazza on a prominent position by the sea.
The palaces near the sea cultivated "gardens".
The garden was rich with plants of vibrant green colour and flowers. With specimens of flora from distant countries. Seafarers grew them as a connection with the world.
Gentle urban motive. Preserved for the longest together with the palaces of Viskovich and Brajkovich-Martinovich .
